Compass is seeking a Property Accountant to join our Accounting team in Dallas, TX.

 

Responsibilities:  

  • Become the “Shepherd” of Property Accounting, in relation to both the customers and
    vendors, ensuring compliance with all agreements, partnering with the: 
    • Director of Lease & Contracts and the AR Lead to ensure all billings are timely
      completed and monitoring collections for regular activity, passthrough and one-time
      charges. 
    • Assistant Controllers and Senior Accountants on the accounting/reporting of all
      property obligations, establishing best industry practices.
      - Operations Management and Senior Financial Analysts on budgeting and projections
      of property expenses.
  • Deep knowledge of all tenant agreements, maintaining our Finance and Accounting teams informed and supported with all new leases and changes, ensuring completeness and accuracy in the reporting and projections.
  • Assist in Property Annual Budget preparation process by preparing revenue and
    expense projections, as well as assisting our Finance team with monthly variance
    analysis.
  • Prepare and monitor monthly aging reports, reporting findings to SVP, Global
    Controller and Assistant Controllers, and working with Sales team on solving any
    collection issues identified.
  • Prepare data to support tenant's information requests and audits, as necessary.
  • Develop and continuously improve property accounting procedures each quarter.
  • Contribute to process documentation and creation of internal control and accounting
    policies as the Company continues to grow.
  • Involved in continuous improvement in NetSuite processes and standardization for
    reporting and functional uses of NetSuite.

What You Need to Succeed

  • At least 4 years of relevant experience in accounting/reporting in a multisite property management business.
  • Bachelor's or master's degree in finance, accounting, or related field required. CPA is preferred.
  • Good understanding of accounting and financial reporting principles, being able to bring in
    property management best practices.
