Job Description
Are you a security-focused professional with expertise in cloud technologies? We are seeking a skilled Cloud Security Engineer to support and enhance our Information Security program. In this role, you'll play a critical part in maintaining and improving security architecture, ensuring compliance with organizational requirements, and safeguarding our cloud environment.
Key Responsibilities
As a Cloud Security Engineer, your responsibilities will include:
Designing and maintaining robust security frameworks for business continuity, disaster recovery, and incident response.
Administering and reviewing access controls, file integrity monitoring, and Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) systems.
Managing privileged access, patching, vulnerability assessments, and intrusion detection/prevention.
Implementing cloud security measures across Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), Platform as a Service (PaaS), and Software as a Service (SaaS) models.
Collaborating with Managed Detection & Response (MDR) providers to investigate security alerts and incidents.
Conducting audits and ensuring compliance with industry standards and best practices.
Designing security tools and integrating technologies such as Content Delivery Networks (CDNs), containerized platforms, and microarchitecture systems.
Required Experience
To thrive in this role, you should have:
3-5 years of experience as a Cloud Security Architect, Security Manager, or in a similar role.
A strong understanding of cloud technologies, including IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS.
Hands-on experience with security technologies, such as SIEM, network firewalls, host-based security tools, and vulnerability management systems.
Familiarity with Cloud Security Posture Management (CSPM) tools.
Proven expertise in investigating and mitigating security incidents and breaches.
Preferred Qualifications
Certifications such as CompTIA Security+, CISSP, or equivalent credentials.
Experience in health exchanges or related industries is a plus.
Knowledge of standards like OWASP, NIST, FISMA, IRS 1075, and CMS MARS-E.
Familiarity with serverless cloud environments and scripting languages such as Python, Java, or .Net.
Tools & Technologies
Proficiency with any of the following is highly desirable:
Cloudflare, Microsoft Azure (including Sentinel and Defender), Palo Alto Prisma Cloud, and Palo Alto Firewalls.
Vulnerability management tools like Tenable Nessus and Rapid7 Insight.
SolarWinds (Orion and ServiceDesk) and Jira/Confluence platforms.
PowerShell and GitHub for automation and development.
Education Requirements
A Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Security, Technology, or a related field is required.
A Master's Degree in a relevant field can substitute for one year of required experience.
At least 10 years of experience in information security or engineering is preferred.
Location
This position is primarily remote, with the flexibility to work from home. However, occasional on-site work may be required at our location in Olympia, WA.
